Essential Message & Background:
Every year Brighton Agency throws an annual party — Zufällig. You might be asking, what the heck does “zufällig” even mean? Great question. By definition, zufällig is a German word that means, “random, by chance or stochastic, accidental or coincidental.” Each year we choose a different theme for the party. Past examples include 1920s Casino Night and The 80’s.
The Ask:
Work with a team to develop the event branding for Zufällig 2019, which happened to land on Brighton’s 30th anniversary.
Creative Solve:
We went with the theme, Pearl Party — pearls are the gemstone for 30th anniversaries. Really leaning into the random nature of this event, we came up with branding that celebrated the whimsical, odd, fantastical nature that is at the heart of the word “zufällig.” To tie together the randomness, everything was pearl/white colored.
Inspiration was drawn from art installations and events like Burning Man. The idea of “surprise and delight” was our north star when developing creative/decor and planning the actual event. At the event we had a fortune teller, a sword swallower, and many other silly, random activities.
